Directions:
From the North: A1 exit Valdichiana, SS E45, bypass Perugia and follow signs for Assisi on the SS75
From the South: A1 exit Orte, SS E45 (SS 3bis) follow direction Perugia, then SS75 direction-Assisi-Foligno
Exit at Santa Maria degli Angeli Nord. You will encounter a series of roundabouts that are numbered. At roundabout nr 2 follow Santa Maria degli Angeli. In Santa Maria degli Angeli drive along the huge church with a golden statue on the top of the facade. Drive straight on along the church, then take the underpass beneath the railway and continue without taking any turn until roundabout nr 5 (approx. 3.5 km/ 2.1 miles from the Church).
Here turn left downhill, direction Perugia (SS 147), you will be soon driving on the Ponte San Vittorino (a bridge close to a bus and camper parking lot). Just after the bridge turn sharp right in Via San Vittorino along the parking lot (this is Parking area E).
Continue straight on for 1.7 km (1 mile) without taking any turn until a T-junction where you have to turn left. You will see the sign of Via Petrata on your left as soon as you turn. Continue uphill for 4.2 km (2.6 miles). Do not take Via Mosciole nor any turn into unpaved roads until you arrive at a large stone building with a metal gate, the Castello di Petrata.
Continue past the Castello di Petrata for 1 km (0.6 miles) until you see a house painted in two colors. The first portion of the house at nr. 35 is terracotta brown. Ours is the second portion of the house at nr. 37 and is of a white-cream color.
Please take care to look at the house number which is above the door on the street side. Ring at nr. 37 and we will tell you where to park.
NB If using a navigator, please search for directions from Assisi, not from Valfabbrica. Please do not exit the highway at Assisi Viole, Assisi Rivotorto, Ospedalicchio or Valfabbrica. The exit Assisi-Santa Maria degli Angeli Nord is well signposted and is the most convenient route to the town and to us.
